UK-based Ian Simpson has been playing the
guitar and bass since 1975, primarily self-taught
apart from some study during the 1980's with
Gary Boyle.
After viewing a television program on Keith
Rowe and Fred Frith, Simpson started to experiment
with prepared guitar, and played in "After
the Stranger" with Tim Bowness ( No Man
/ Darkroom ) 1985 1988.
In 1994, Simpson started to get involved
in sampling and sequencing built a small home
studio. He attended a Halton College sound
recording course in 1995, and began composing
with virtual instruments on a PC in 1997.
Simpson launched the Electronic Musik website
in 1997 along with its accompanying CD-R label.
