
Vortex is the French duo of Heddy Boubaker (alto
saxophone) and Sébastien Cirotteau (trumpet).
Sébastien Cirotteau
French trumpet player and sound artist
Born in 1977, Paris, France
Lives in Toulouse, France
He began studying the trumpet at the age of
ten, first at the National Music School of
Le Mans, then at the National Conservatory
of Rennes, where he diplomed a second cycle.
He then studied sound recording techniques
and semiology in Toulouse. This brought him
a new sensitive approach on the listening
of the surrounding sonic world and modified
his own trumpet techniques, influenced both
by electroacoustic music and soundscapes.
He now focuses his practice on improvisation
and sound recording.
Since 1999, he collaborates in several improvised
projects (Ensemble Nodal, Aérophone,
Collectif Ordulu, Clochepate…) and meets
musicians in France, Germany, Spain and Argentina:
Michel Doneda, Fabrice Charles, Le Quan Ninh,
Isabelle Duthoit, David Chiesa, Jean Sébastien
Mariage, Laurent Hoovenaers, Heddy Boubaker,
Gabriel Paiuk, Diego Chamy, Lucio Capece,
Wade Matthews, Ute Völker, Mazen Kerbaj,
among others... He also plays since 2000 in
a famous brass band: La Friture Moderne, leaded
by composer and saxophonist Marc Démereau
and exploring dramatical issues with director
Christophe Bergon.
He has been playing in several clubs and festivals
: Instants Chavirés (Paris, France),
Le 102 (Grenoble, France), Centro Nacional
de Mùsica (Buenos Aires, Argentina),
Trytone Festival (Amsterdam, Netherlands),
Europa Jazz Festival (Le Mans, France), Musique
Quotiden Sonore (Albi, France), Beta Project
(Pau, France)...
With german buto dancer Regina Goerger, he
performed on the atlantic shore from North
of France to South of Portugal, a cycle called
Water Cycle 2002-2003.
He achieved sound creations for theatre and
contemporary danse and performed electroacoustic
concerts for silent movies.
In 2004, he moved to Buenos Aires with journalist
Gwladys Deprez and achieved together a radio
documentarie about the Argeninian social alternatives:

Heddy Boubaker
Born in 1963 in Marseille (France) a nice
Sunday of March at siesta time, influenced
by the Mediterranean sea and the Mistral wind,
Heddy Boubaker has played music and experimented
with sounds since 1977, starting with electric
guitar in a mainly rock/punk style. He's now
playing improvised music with his alto saxophone
in an indescribable style, in which we are
always able to hear the sea and the wind among
many other ... things. He also manages the
improvised music venue "la
maison peinte" near Toulouse.
He has played with many musicians, dancers
and performers like Lê Quan Ninh, Michel
