An amalgamation of drones, field recordings, samples and digital manipulations, the three tracks from sound artist Mike Hallenbeck on offer here may not ultimately reveal the secret history of karaoke, but they offer an eclectic mix of sonic elements which also may not be entirely impossible to sing along to. This is sound art that isn't afraid to be funny (as in the surprise vocal sample in "Elephant", as well as the title of track one - undoubtedly the best pun in Stasisfield's release history) while simultaneously immersing the listener in superbly crafted ambient environments.
