Something Else Remix Project

Sunday, December 19, 2010, marked the end of the Something Else radio program on WLUW, a Chicago institution selflessly run for 15 years by Philip von Zweck.

I think it's safe to say Something Else has been a profound influence on a lot of people including myself, and the experimental sound community in Chicago has lost one of its most valuable resources.

To honor the legacy of this program, I would like to implement a tribute project to Something Else on Stasisfield.com: an ongoing weekly remix release of the show's theme song, originally composed by Philip.

The concept is, every Sunday night (preferably at 10pm Chicago time), I'd like to release a new remix of the Something Else theme for as long as I have material to release.

If you've been a performer on this program, or been a listener of this program, I'd like to invite you to submit a Something Else Theme remix.

Download an mp3 of the theme here.

Remixes can be up to one hour in length. Please submit them to me as WAV or AIFF files via a file sharing website like YouSendIt.

Feel free to pass this invite along to anyone you know who may have been involved with the show. Looking forward to hearing from you!

Thanks,
